FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - It was clear from the start of the game these two teams don't like each other much.
Just two seconds into the Komets game against Dayton, Brent Henley and Robin Richards dropped the gloves and set the tone for the night.
The Gems would strike first in the first period. Charlie Townsend raced past the defense and beat Nick Boucher with a wrister as Dayton grabbed a 1-0 lead.
The Komets would answer five and a half minutes later in the period when Bobby Chaumont netted his 18th goal of the season to tie the game.
Chris Auger would score in the second period and Jesse Bennefield found the net in the third period as the Komets beat the Gems 3-1.
Nick Boucher stopped 33 of 34 shots in the win.
The Komets travel to Evansville Wednesday.
