The Komets opened the second half of the 2011-12 season with a rare loss as Bloomington topped Fort Wayne 2-1 Friday night at War Memorial Coliseum.

The Blaze scored the lone goal in the first period with Jordy Trottier netting an unassisted tally at 8:34.

Artem Podshendyalov would even the score at 1-1 with a goal at 11:06 in the second period.

The Blaze took back the lead at 5:18 in the third period when Kyle Laughlin beat Nick Boucher to give Bloomington a 2-1 lead en route to the victory.

Boucher saved 21-of-23 shots he faced. The Komets out-shot Bloomington 42-23 and went 0-for-7 on the powerplay.

The Komets return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Evansville.
