LOVELAND, Colo. (WANE) - The Komets opened their three-game road swing in Colorado with a 2-1 loss to the Eagles on Wednesday night.
Joey Sides opened the scoring at 14:30 in the first period to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage.
Thomas Beauregard tied the game at one with his team-leading 18th goal of the season at 4:58 in the second frame. At 16:23 Isaac Smeltzer gave Colorado the lead for good with his second goal of the campaign.
Charlie Effinger took the loss for the Komets in goal despite stopping 36 of 38 shots. Adam Brown stopped 23 of 24 for Colorado.
Both teams were 0 of 5 on the powerplay.
The Komets and Eagles play again on Friday with the puck dropping at 9 p.m. Fort Wayne time.
