FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - After a rough week the Komets are currently riding a five game winless streak for only the third time since 1997.
A week ago the Komets found themselves holding the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race. After four losses last week the Komets are now in 10th place - four point behind Elmira and one point behind Kalamazoo.
The Komets went 0-for-12 last week on the powerplay and have scored just 25 goals in their last 10 games.
One positive note is the return of center Colin Chaulk. Chaulk missed 33 games with a shoulder injury and foot infection but return to the ice in Saturday's home loss to Evansville.
On the negative side, goalie Marco Cousineau injured his groin and could miss the rest of the season.
The Komets have six weeks and 18 games of regular season hockey left in which to make a playoff push.
The Ks will host division-leading Cininnati on Friday, travel to Toledo on Saturday, and return home to host Wheeling on Sunday.
