FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Canterbury girls basketball team is looking for the program's sixth consecutive regional title this weekend as the Cavaliers travel to Caston on Saturday.

Canterbury - ranked no. 1 in 1A - will face West Central (14-9) at 12:30 p.m. That game follows the Oregon-Davis/Morgan Township game at 10:30 a.m. The winners of the early games will meet at 8 p.m. in the regional title game. It could pit no. 1 Canterbury (21-3) against no. 2 Oregon-Davis (21-3) in a game that could go a long way in determining who wins the state championship.

Canterbury has won four of the last five 1A state championships.

The Cavaliers are in their first year under legendary coach Wayne Kreiger, who made his reputation during a Hall of Fame career at Columbia City. Kreiger took over for his son Scott this summer after Scott took the head coaching position at Canterbury following 14 seasons with the girls.
