WARSAW, IN. (WANE) - Behind 11 points and eight rebounds from DeJoyah Johnson, South Side clinched its first berth in the 4A state championship with a 47-44 win over Warsaw on Saturday evening.
The Archers trailed 29-22 at the half, but a 14-7 advantage in the third quarter sparked a rally.
IPFW-bound senior Ariana Simmons chipped in ten points for South who shot just 31 percent for the game, but converted more free throws than the Tigers.
Warsaw - who suffered just its second loss of the season - was led by Jennifer Walker-Crawford who scored a game-high 18 points.
South Side will meet 27-0 Bedford North Lawrence in the 4A state championship.
