FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) - Day one of the boys SAC Holiday Basketball Tournament featured more than its share of Christmas cheer - the bulk provided by Bishop Luers junior James Blackmon Jr. The Indiana recruit exploded for 40-second half points on his way to a 45-point effort, breaking Deshaun Thomas' tournament record. The new single-game scoring mark came in a losing effort however as Snider bested the Knights in a high-scoring affair 101-87.
Wayne's Justin Mitchell almost made his presence felt in the final game of the night - scoring a game-high 27 points as the Generals topped North Side 63-59.
In the morning session, Northrop got 23 points from Purdue commit Bryson Scott as the two-time defending champion Bruins bested South Side 76-71. Concordia had little trouble with Bishop Dwenger as the Cadets cruise past the Saints 69-49.
