FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Super Hoops New Years Classic brought ten of the state's best high school boys basketball teams to War Memorial Coliseum on January 1 with two games involving local teams.
Columbia City jumped out to an early lead and held on to beat Northridge 59-48. Derek Hinen had 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists to pace the Eagles. Daniel Woll added 10 points and seven boards. Hinen and Woll, along with fellow Columbia City senior Drew Benedict, will play at Huntington University next year.
In the final game of the night New Haven topped Huntington North 58-54. The Bulldogs led by 18 at one point but the Vikings battled back to make it a game. Notre Dame recruit V.J. Beachem led New Haven with 16 points while Jordan Hogue had 13. Huntington North was paced by Noah Reed's 22 and Kalvin Miller's 19.
