TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WANE) - After a historic run - South Side couldn't quite get over the final hurdle, falling to unbeaten Bedford North Lawrence 54-51 in the 4A state final.

The Stars shot 45 percent from the floor as opposed to 36 percent for the Archers who were led by senior Arianna Simmons and her 21-point, 11-rebound performance.

This was South Side's first appearance in the 4A state championship game.

The Archers had the lead at the end of the first and third quarters, but did not hold the lead the final three minutes of the contest.

Two players for Bedford North Lawrence ended the game with 19 points.  Sophomores Dominique McBryde and Alexa Bailey, the daughter of former Indiana University standout, Damon Bailey, were the only players on the team to reach double figures.

Back on January 26, Bedford North Lawrence beat South Side 63-39 in Bedford.

The win marked Bedford North Lawrence's third state championship, and the schools first since 1991.
