FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Homestead high school sharpshooter Sydney Buck will sign with the Butler basketball program next fall as the junior verbally committed to the Bulldogs.
Buck will play for head coach Beth Couture at Butler.
"Sydney Buck will fit very well into the Butler system, her shooting ability and high basketball IQ should make an impact for Coach Couture and the Bulldogs," according to Gil Farley, coach of Buck's AAU team the Spiece Gym Rats. "Sydney also considered Southern Illinois, IUPUI, Ball State, and Wright State. Butler seems to be the perfect fit athletically and academically for Sydney's collegiate career, and we are proud of Sydney's accomplishment and very happy for her and the Buck family."
Homestead high school coach Rod Parker comments, "Sydney Buck is one of the premier shooters in the state of Indiana. She led Homestead to a 21 win season and averaged 22 points while making 119 three point field goals and shooting over 90% from the free throw line. Sydney will be a great asset to the Butler program."
