FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The South Side girls basketball team will look to win the program's second-ever regional title this Saturday as the Archers will face Westfield Saturday at noon in the regional semifinals in Kokomo.
South goes in with a 21-3 record and the no. 11 ranking in the latest 4A state poll. Wstview is 21-2 and ranked no. 10.
South Side won the program's only other regional title in 2008.
South is led by the trio of Ariana Simmons, Brittni Clopton, and DeJoyah Johnson. The IPFW-bound Simmons scores 13.8 points a game, Clopton nets 10.1, while Johnson puts up 9.8.
Tip for the South Side-Westfield game on Saturday is set for noon, following the Snider-Logansport game. The winners of the early games will play in the sectional title game at 8 p.m.
