Located just across the St. Joe river from the Memorial Coliseum, Concordia clearly had the shortest bus ride to the state championship games Saturday. 

The 8th-ranked Cadets are eyeing the first state title in basketball as they battle top-ranked Rushville for the class 3A title.

Concordia jumped out to a 10-0 lead, but Rushville quickly came back. The Cadets just lead by one at the end of the first quarter, 14-13.

Going into halftime, Rushville took the lead with a last minute bucket bringing it to 25-24 at the half.

After the half Concordia came out strong, at one point leading 48-37 in the fourth quarter. The Cadets held on and pulled out a win 59-48 over Rushville.

Erynn Meiklejohn led the Cadets with 16 points. Anna Goeglein added 12 points and nine rebounds. Andrea Newbauer netted 11 points, pulled down eight rebounds, and tallied six assists. Angie Doerffler scored 12 points, while Annalissa Kammeyer scored seven off the bench.

This is Concordia's first state title in basketball.
