FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Girls sectional championship games are set for Saturday night after a full evening of sectional semifinals on Friday in northeast Indiana.
In 4A action at Homestead it was South Side winning the first game of the night by beating New Haven 50-18. Lakesha Stephens led the Archers with 13 points. Homestead struggled early but used a big third quarter to beat Huntington North in the other semifinal by a score of 43-35. Sydney Buck paced Homestead with 23 points while Allyson Trout led the Vikings with 11 points. South Side and Homestead will play for the sectional title tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
In 4A action at Snider high school it was Northrop beating North Side 53-33 in the first semifinal. Northrop was led by Quila Jackson with 18 points while Aleah Swary netted 14. Jayla Lewis led North Side with 13 points.
In the nightcap at Kilmer Court Snider held Carroll to just one field goal in the first quarter to go up 21-4 en route to a 69-35 win. Meredith Shipman had 17 points to lead Snider while Destiny Parker added 15. Kylie Murphy led Carroll with eight points. Snider and Northrop will now square off for the sectional title tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
In 4A action at Concord it was Warsaw winning the early semifinal over Concord 59-21. Jennifer Walker-Crawford and Brooklyn Harris netted 11 apiece for Warsaw. Northridge beat Goshen in the nightcap 45-38. Warsaw and Northridge play at 7 p.m. tomorrow.
3A sectional play at Bishop Dwenger saw the host Saints fall to 3A no. 11 Concordia 60-42. In the second game 3A no. 9 Angola used a big second half to top Garrett 50-27. Concordia and Angola are set to play for the sectional title at 7 p.m. tomorrow.
In 3A at Mississinewa 3A no. 5 Norwell had no problem with Eastbrook as the Knights rolled 61-40. In the late game it was Heritage topping Whitko 67-62. Norwell and Heritage will now play in the sectional title game at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.
At NorthWood the host Panthers topped Fairifeld 58-29 to punch their ticket to the sectional finals. West Noble beat Lakeland 60-49 in the late game to set up a West Noble-NorthWood championship game at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.
In 2A action at Bluffton 2A no. 14 Bishop Luers topped Eastside 69-37. The Knights were led by Tashalya Sutorius and Allison Butler with 12 points apiece. Eastside's Brianna Moore led the Blazers with 13 points while Lindsay Jones chipped in with 12. In the late game South Adams bested Churubusco 34-25. That means Luers and South Adams will play at 7 p.m. tomorrow for the sectional title.
In 2A play at Wabash it was Manchester handling North Miami in the night's first game by a final of 54-41. In the late game Wabash bested Northfield 36-29 behind 21 points from Kyleigh Hampton. The Apaches and Squires will now play for the sectional title at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.
In 2A play at Central Noble LaVille topped Bremen 50-43 to open the night while Westview topped Fremont 39-34. Westview and LaVille will play at 7 p.m. tomorrow for the sectional championship.
In 1A action at Canterbury Bethany Christian beat Hamilton 49-37 in the first semifinal of the night. Bethany was led by Natalie Thorne with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Lindsay Stoy of Hamilton scored her 1,000th career point in the loss, as Stoy tallied 17 points and 11 rebounds on game.
In the late game at Canterbury the host Cavaliers - ranked no. 1 in 1A - downed Lakewood Park Christian 100-50. Darby Maggard and Bailey Farley led the Cavs with 22 points apiece. Suzanne Grimm led Lakewood with 20 points. Canterbury will now face Bethany at 7:30 tomorrow for the sectional title.
In 1A play in Poneto it was Monroe Central over Daleville 41-30 while Southern Wells beat Cowan 68-13. That sets up a championship game between Monroe Central and Southern Wells tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
