2/6 Girls Sectional Recap

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Carroll and Snider will meet in the sectional semifinals Friday night at Kilmer Court as both the Chargers and Panthers earned wins Wednesday night in girls hoops to advance.

In the early 4A game at Snider the Chargers led Columbia City 43-42 heading into the fourth quarter. Amy Poynter scored 10 of her game-high 25 in the final frame as the Chargers pulled away to a 65-57 win. Emily Whiteleather led Columbia City with 21 points.

In the nightcap at Snider the host Panthers rolled in a 62-35 win over East Noble. Karrina Smith led the Panthers with 20 points while Meredith Shipman added 18. Kerri Schrock and Jaymee Wolfe led East Noble with six points apiece.

Snider and Carroll will now square off at 7:45 p.m. Friday night in the sectional semifinals. That game follows North Side and Northrop at 6 p.m.

In 1A action at Canterbury high school both Lakewood Park and Canterbury earned wins Wednesday night to advance to Friday's semifinals.

Lakewood Park topped Elkhart Christian 74-35 behind 13 points from Suzanne Grimm. Canterbury bested Blackhawk 80-27 with Bailey Farley leading the way with 18 points. Darby Maggard had 16 while Kindell Fincher added 14. Olivia Byler had 17 points in a losing effort.

Lakewood Park and Canterbury will now play each other at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. That game follows Hamilton taking on Bethany Christian at 6 p.m.

In 2A girls sectional basketball at Wabash the host Apaches downed Southwood 43-35 behind 22 points from Kyleigh Hampton. Northfield beat Oak Hill 47-32 in the nightcap. Wabash and Northfield will meet at 7:45 p.m. Friday following the 6 p.m. game between Manchester and North Miami.
