1/25 Friday Night Highlight Zone

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Homestead senior Nick Gamble poured in 20 points as the Spartans beat DeKalb 54-40 in the Highlight Zone "Game of the Week." The win keeps Homestead alone atop the NHC standings with a 5-0 record in conference play.

Freshman Caleb Swanigan added nine points for Homestead. Austin Macy led DeKalb with 12 points while Adison Daub tallied 11.

In other NHC action New Haven moved to 4-1 in the league with a 69-54 win over Columbia City at Armstrong Arena. The Bulldogs are alone in second place in the NHC standings as a February 2 date with Homestead looms.

Carroll's Mason Miller scored 26 points while Chandler White chipped in 17 as the Chargers bested Bellmont 55-29.

Norwell bounced back from a loss to win over East Noble 73-40. David Vogel led Norwell with 14 points while Houston Pattee scored 16 to pace East Noble.

In SAC play Northrop improved to 5-1 in conference play as the Bruins topped South Side 92-67 at Don Reichert Gymnasium. The Bruins are alone in first place and can clinch the SAC title with a win against Concordia next Friday. Purdue signee Bryson Scott led Northrop with 34 points. Devin Jones and Domonique Gleason paced South with 16 points apiece.

The Cadets moved to 4-2 in conference with a 61-56 win at Wayne. The Generals fall to 3-3 in the SAC with the loss.

At By Hey Arena it was North Side topping Bishop Luers 85-76. The Redskins are now 4-2 in conference, including a win over Northrop.

Snider topped Bishop Dwenger 72-61 behind 15 points from Stephen Halstead and 14 from Leander Williams. Grady Eifert led the Saints with 20 points.

In ACAC action both Bluffton and Leo moved to 5-0 in conference. The Tigers topped Garrett 54-40 behind a balanced attack. Matthew Sturegon had 12 points, Jackson Lambert 11, and Chandler Pribble 10. Garrett was led by Joe Martin with 14 points.

Leo topped Woodlan 74-54 at the Elmer Strautman Athletic Complex. Adam Davison led Leo with 22 points while Sam Waters added 15. Kadin Gerig led Woodlan with 26 points.

In NCC boys play Huntington North won a thriller in double-overtime to beat Muncie Central. Kalvin Miller won the game for the Vikings with a clutch lay-up at the end. Miller led the Vikings with 26 points while Noah Reed added 19.

In SAC girls play it was South Side capturing the program's second consecutive regular season conference title with a 65-29 win over Northrop. Lakyn Gulley led South with 15 points while IPFW signee Ariana Simmons added 11.

Snider topped Bishop Dwenger 66-47 behind 26 points from Western Michigan recruit Meredith Shipman. Alyssa Gibson led the Saints with 16 points.

Bishop Luers had no problem with North Side, as the Knights won 75-31.  Concordia took down Wayne 52-40.
