FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Saturday's SAC Holiday tournament finals are now set as Snider and South Side will meet in the girls title game with Northrop and Concordia set to square off for the boys title.
In Thursday's first semi-final game the South Side girls held off a fourth quarter charge from Bishop Luers to win 67-60. Brittni Clopton led the Archers with 16 points. Luers was led Tashala Surtoris netted 24 to pace the Knights.
In the other girls semi it was Deja Wimby with 22 to lead Snider over Concordia 64-45. DeJour Young and Courtney Smith each netted 15 for Concordia.
Snider and South Side will meet for the SAC girls title at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Wayne high school. South has won two of the last three SAC tournament titles, including a 41-39 win over Luers in the championship game last year.
In boys semi-final action in was the Scott twins pouring in a total of 60 points as Northrop topped Snider 88-67. Purdue-bound Bryson Scott led the way with 33 while future Indiana State Sycamore Brenton Scott added 27. Trey'von Covington paced Snider with 23 points.
In the nightcap it was Concordia over Wayne 61-45. D.J. McCall led the Cadets with 18 points while Thomas Starks added 15. Levi Mitchell led Wayne with 16.
Concordia and Northrop will play for the SAC boys title at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday night. Northrop will be looking for the program's third SAC tournament title in a row.
Before that Northrop plays in the Hall of Fame Classic Friday in New Castle. The Bruins play Indianapolis Tech at 2:15 p.m. Depending on whether they win or lose the Bruins will play again that night at either 7:30 or 9:15.
