FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - In the Highlight Zone "Game of the Week" the 3A no. 16 Concordia boys used a team effort to top 2A no. 5 Bishop Luers 77-68 as the Cadets improved to 2-0 in SAC play.

In other SAC boys action at By Hey Arena it was North Side edging Northrop 65-59 with both teams moving to 1-1 conference. Wayne needed overtime to beat Snider 64-62 as both the Generals and Panthers are now 1-1 in SAC play. At South Side Bishop Dwenger's Grady Eifert netted 20 points as the Saints beat the Archers 54-53.

In SAC girls action 4A no. 3 South Side stayed perfect in conference by beating Dwenger 80-49. Four Archers scored in double figures led by IPFW-bound Ariana Simmons with 17. 4A no. 14 Snider also improved to 2-0 in league play with a 69-31 win over Wayne. 3A no. 9 Concordia topped 2A no. 12 Luers 50-39 behind 13 points each from DeJour Young and Courtney Smith. At By Hey it was Northrop playing well down the stretch to edged North Side 51-46.

NHC boys play opened on Friday night with 4A no. 21 Homestead topping rival Carroll 70-56. Homestead was led by Trevor Osborn's 23 points while Nick Gamble added 17. Chander White led Carroll with 24. At Columbia City the senior-led Eagles had no problems with East Noble as the Eagles rolled 76-35. New Haven went on the road to beat Bellmont 66-43 while DeKalb handled 3A no. 4 Norwell 74-63.

In ACAC play Leo got 22 from Sam Waters and 21 from A.J. Busche as the Lions topped Garrett 84-64. Adams Central needed three overtimes to beat Woodlan 85-78. Bluffton beat Southern Wells 85-40 while Heritage topped South Adams 75-49.

In a boys-girls double-header at Canterbury the Cavaliers got the sweep. The 1A no. 4 boys won 45-34 while the girls won 74-30.
