FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The 1A no. 4 Canterbury boys rolled to a big win over Howe while the 4A no. 14 Homestead girls knocked off 4A no. 3 South Side 81-80 to headline area prep basketball on Tuesday night.
Canterbury beat Howe 91-33 to improve to 4-0 on the season. Trent Van Horn led the way with 23 points. Canterbury will host Blackhawk in a girls-boys double header on Friday that will be featured on The Highlight Zone.
Homestead used a near triple-double from sophomore guard Josie Fisher to beat South by one. Fisher, who has verbally committed to IPFW, racked up 31 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Ariana Simmons - who has signed to play at IPFW - scored 28 to pace South.
In other girls action 3A no. 4 Angola beat Westview 57-29 behind 19 from Rachel Rinehart. Rinehart, who has also signed with IPFW, passed the 1,000 point plateau for her career in this game.
At East Noble it was 4A no. 14 Snider taking down the Knights 57-31 behind 21 points from Deja Wimby. Bishop Dwenger's Ally Christman - who signed with Ferris State on Monday - tallied 21 in a 53-47 win against Woodlan.
