FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Northrop came into the night in a three-way tie for first place in the SAC. They ended the night in sole possession of first as the Bruins topped Bishop Dwenger by 38 while Concordia and Wayne suffered losses.
Northrop topped Dwenger 80-42 to improve to 4-1 in SAC play. Jacoby Claypool paced the Bruins with 19 points. Purdue-bound Bryson Scott added 17 while Indiana State recruit Brenton Scott had 10 points and four steals. Grady Eifert led Dwenger with 20 points.
At Concordia it was Snider scoring a furious 64-57 comeback win over the Cadets to drop CLHS to 3-2 in league play. Leander Williams led Snider with 22 points. Concordia was paced by D.J. McCall with 13.
Bishop Luers improved to 3-2 in SAC play with a 64-55 win against Wayne. The loss dropped the Generals to 3-2 in league play as well.
At By Hey Arena North Side won the battle of the Totem Pole on the hardwood, beating rival South Side 80-63. Dominique Gleason led the Archers with 27 points in the loss. North Side moves into a four-way tie for second place in the SAC as the Redskins are now 3-2.
In SAC girls play South Side improved to 5-0 in conference as the 4A no. 6 Archers topped North Side 48-18.
Snider stayed one game behind South in the standings and took sole possesion of second place by beating Concordia 62-52 behind 20 points from Western Michigan signee Meredith Shipman. Snider is now 4-1 in conference while Concordia drops to 3-2.
In other SAC girls action Wayne topped Bishop Luers 65-49 while Aleah Swary's 22 points led Northrop over Bishop Dwenger 53-40.
In ACAC boys action Bluffton built off last week's ACAC tournament title as the Tigers edged Adams Central 50-45. Leo earned an 87-63 win over Southern Wells, Heritage topped Woodlan 58-36, while Garrett beat South Adams 61-49.
In Three Rivers Conference play Tippecanoe Valley earned a huge win in conference play, beating Southwood 69-53. Tippecanoe Valley is now alone atop the TRC standings at 4-0 in conference. Southwood's Jackson Blair led everyone with 24 points.
In NHC girls action Norwell clinched at least a share of the conference title as the Knights beat New Haven 54-22 to improve to 6-0 in league play.
Homestead got 26 points (including eight 3's) from Sydney Buck and 17 points, 13 assists, and nine steals from IPFW recruit Josie Fisher as the Spartans beat Bellmont 85-25. Carroll topped East Noble 61-49 while Columbia City beat DeKalb 62-60 in overtime.
In NECC girls play Angola topped Busco 61-33 to improve to 15-2 on the season and 8-0 in conference.
