FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Churubusco claimed its fourth straight NECC championship on Friday night - this one outright - with a 38-16 win over Lakeland. The story for the Eagles once again began and ended with senior running back Jason Nicodemus who carried 27 times for 217 yards and five touchdowns in the title clinching win. Life doesn't get any easier for the Lakers - they'll open sectional play with a trip to ACAC champ Heritage.

In other NECC action, Fairfield stepped outside the conference and right into a 40-24 loss to Culver Military Academy. Eastside had little trouble with Prairie Heights, cruising to a 38-13 win, while Fremont just squeeked by West Noble with a 27-26 win. Anogla closed the regular season with 58-12 win over Central Noble, as the Hornets finish with a 3-5 mark in conference.

Elsewhere, Huntington North closed the regular season with a win at home, besting New Castle 28-14. Vikings quarterback Drew Schnitz tossed a pair of first quarter touchdowns to Austin Shrock and Paul Ehler to put his team out in front. Brayin Stell came up with a key interception early in the game as well.
