FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - East Noble handed New Haven the Bulldogs' first loss of the season while Homestead won to clinch at least a share of the NHC title.
East Noble's Walker Boyles ran for two touchdowns to lead the Knights to a 17-0 win. The loss drops New Haven to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in NHC play.
At Homestead Frank Martin ran for 120 yards and a touchdown as the Spartans beat Norwell 20-7. Homestead moves to 6-0 in conference and 8-0 overall. With New Haven's loss Homestead clinches at least a share of the NHC title for the sixth year in a row. They can win the title outright next week when they play New Haven.
At Columbia City the Eagles fell to Carroll 20-6. Justin Tranquill had two touchdowns, including a 70-yard reception for a score on Carroll's first offensive play of the game. Travis Herbst hit Travis Bachelder in the second quarter for Columbia City's only score.
Up in DeKalb the Barons scored first when Evan Cochran hit Cody Krumlauf for an 80-yard touchdown early in the second quarter but it was Bellmont scoring 34 unanswered to take it 34-6. Josh Hall rushed for three touchdowns while Trevor Love ran for 152 yards and two scores to lead Bellmont.
