Week 8 ACAC football recap

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Garrett used a strong defensive performance on Friday night to beat Leo 20-6 and earn at least a share of the ACAC title.

Garrett was led by Kyle Lanning's two interceptions - including one returned 69 yards for a score - as the Railroaders improved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in conference. Leo falls to 6-1 on the season and 4-1 in conference. Garrett can win the ACAC title outright next week when they play Heritage.

Speaking of the Patriots Heritage went out of conference on Friday, earning a 26-7 win over Jay County. Brenton Lockett rushed for 203 yards and scored three total touchdowns in the victory.

In Monroe it was the Adams Central defense pitching a shutout in a 14-0 win over Bluffton. Kyle Baker rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns for the Jets.

In Berne Woodlan's T.J. Sewell took the opening kick back for a score setting the tone for a 37-0 win. Sewell scored four touchdowns on the night (2 rushing, 1 receiving, 1 KOR) while Jaylin Bennett rushed 30 times for 162 yards and two scores.
