FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Lakeland announced itself as a true force to be reckoned with in the NECC Friday night, rolling over Fairfield 48-29. Joey Fuller and Cory Treyer both registered first half touchdowns as the Lakers broke an early 7-7 tie in the second quarter.

Angola earned its third win of the season and in conference, just sneaking past Prairie Heights with a 20-19 final. AJ Hocker was responsible for all three Angola touchdowns including the game-winning score with just under two minutes remaining. Zach Shepard and Joey Barry each found the end zone for the Panthers.

West Noble throttled Central Noble 52-27, picking up its first win of the season in the process. The Chargers got it done on the ground with Erik Mawhorter wracking up an incredible 334 yards on the night, including a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second quarter.

Churubusco suffered its first loss of the season - stepping outside of the conference and falling at Culver Academy 35-16.

Elsewhere, Huntington North got past Muncie Central at home 31-14. Quarterback Drew Schnitz and Austin Rosen each had rushing touchdowns for the Vikings who now sit at 4-1 in the conference. They travel to first place Richmond next week.

Whitko managed to outlast North Miami 13-10 at home, handing the Warriors their first conference loss of the season. Tanner Hughes punched in a short touchdown run in the second, giving Whitko a lead it would not relinquish.

Wawasee bested Warsaw 14-13 as well, the first conference loss for the Tigers. Wawasee meanwhile improves to 2-3 in Northern Lakes play with a date at Elkhart Memorial looming next Friday.
