FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Homestead and New Haven both stayed perfect in conference play as the Spartans and Bulldogs lead the NHC title chase after five weeks of football.
Homestead topped Bellmont 42-7 at Dave S. Walter Memorial Stadium. The Spartans came into the week ranked no. 13 in this week's 5A state poll. The Spartans got a punt return from future I.U. Hoosier Isaac Griffith in the route.
New Haven went down to Ossian and pulled out a 28-10 win over Norwell. The Bulldogs, ranked no. 11 in 4A, were led by Anthony Moore with 206 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
At Carroll the Chargers took a nail-biter from East Noble, winning 24-20. The Tranquill brothers came up big as Carroll moves to 4-1.
At DeKalb it was the Columbia City show as the Eagles won 62-10. Travis Herbst led Columbia City with three touchdown passes while running for another. Sam Dailey ran for two touchdowns as well.
