FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Homestead fired the first shot in NHC play with a convincing 65-21 win over East Noble on Friday night. The Spartans were led by 299 passing yards and five touchdowns from senior quarterback Matt Skrowonek and 171 receiving yards and three touchdowns from senior wideout Isaac Griffith. It was just a 21-7 Homestead lead at the half before the Spartans exploded for 37 third quarter points.

Carroll continues to dominate its early season schedule - this time going on the road and trouncing Norwell 56-7. Chris Terry aired it out for the Chargers, throwing five touchdown passes - three of which went to Drue Tranquill. The Carroll defense missed another shutout narrowly, allowing Norwell to score with 17 seconds remaining.

Up in Columbia City the Eagles soared behind running back Adam Neely, improving to 2-1 on the year with a 24-13 win over visiting Bellmont. Neely carried 22 times for 237 yards and three touchdowns. Brad Busse had another strong showing for the Braves, including a 43-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

New Haven stayed perfect with another big offensive night, cruising past DeKalb 47-7. Anthony Moore wracked up 160 yards and had touchdown runs of 62 and 38 yards. Quarterback Kevin Ware ran in three touchdowns of his own - all from one yard out.
