FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Homestead rallied from a first-half deficit to trounce Huntington North 53-12 in their season opener. The Spartans trailed 12-7 in the second quarter before storming to a monster second half. Future IU Hoosier Isaac Griffith picked up his first touchdown of the season with a 37-yard reception in the third quarter.

In Columbia City, the Eagles were clipped by a visiting Warsaw team, losing 20-14. The Tigers got a big night from running back Tristan McClone, including a 63-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to open the scoring. He would add a second score in the third, to cap off a scoring drive set up by a Warsaw fumble recovery.

Churubusco defended its turf in impressive fashion on Friday night, blowing out visiting Fremont 46-13. Busco got second rushing touchdowns from Jay Petrie and Cory Miller to put what had been a close game to that point, out of reach.

New Garrett coach Chris DePew made good on his return home, leading his alma mater to a 32-27 win over Eastside in his first game back in blue. The Railroaders surged in the second half behind quarterback Noah Follet who tossed a game-tying touchdown to Cole Wilson, before punching in a score of his own on a 10-yard run.
