FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) - It's been eight years since an area team last played for a 5A state football championship - ironically enough it was Snider that took the field that night. The Panthers will do so again Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium when they face No. 1 Lawrence Central.
The Panthers enter at 14-0 and ranked second in the state behind a stout defense and relentless rushing attack. It was the latter that helped lead Snider past a high-scoring Merrillville team in last weeks semi-state final. But the ante will be upped on Saturday, particularly in the trenches, where Snider will actually be at a disadvantage physically for perhaps the first game all season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday and NewsChannel 15 Sports will be there for full coverage.
