FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) - It's become a post-Thanksgiving tradition at Bishop Luers - the Knights celebrated another 2A state championship Monday afternoon. It's the programs 11th overall title and their fourth in a row - tying a state record.

The Knights held off a late charge from Cardinal Ritter to win by a final of 40-28 at Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday night. Senior Jaylon Smith led the way in his final high school game - rushing for 150 yards and three touchdowns as Luers jumped out to a 27-0 lead in the first half.

A fifth straight title may be asking a bit much though. Not only do the Knights lose a massive and talented senior class, but given the new IHSAA points system, Luers will move up to 3A next season.
