FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) - For a fourth straight year Bishop Luers is celebrating a 2A state championship. The Knights opened a 27-0 first half lead on Cardinal Ritter and never looked back on their way to a 40-28 win Friday night at Lucas Oil Stadium. The championship is the programs 11th in football.

The challenge now for the Knights will be three-fold: replacing a large and talented senior class, replacing an interim coaching staff and adjusting to life as a 3A program. Under the newly instated IHSAA points system, the Knights will move up a class in football beginning next season

Meanwhile in 5A, a successful season for Snider ended on a down note as the Panthers fell to No. 1 Lawrence Central 39-14. The Bears massive line created problems for the Panthers defense, opening up both the run and pass game for a series of big plays throughout the night. For Snider, it was their first appearance in the state championship since 2004.
