Knights crush Golden Falcons, 68-0

Bishop Luers scored early and often in its sectional championship game against Winchester, hammering the Golden Falcons, 68-0.

Luers scored first thanks to a fumble recovery bu Quyuan Mattox on a Winchester muffed punt. Three plays later Ken Mullen - running out of the Knights' Wildcat formation - scored from 10 yards out to give Luers a 7-0 lead less than three minutes into the game.

After a Mattox interception, Luers would score again on the ground. Mullen took a hand-off around the left end for a three-yard score, giving Luers a 14-0 lead less than six minutes into the game.

Luers would score on its next possesion as well, this time through the air. Quarterback James Knapke would hit Michael Rogers for a 39-yard scoring strike, giving the Knights a 21-0 advantage eight minutes into the game.

Luers would add another touchdown in the first frame, as Knapke would hit Rogers again. The freshman would break multiple tackles while running 48 yards down the sideline to stake the Knights to a 28-0 lead.

The Knights would score on the first play of the second quarter, with Mattox taking a hand-off three yards, increasing the lead to 35-0.

Knapke would hit Eric Sorg for a one-yard touchdown pass on Luers' next possesion, as the Knights built a 48-0 lead at half.

Luers improves to 7-5 on the season and will travel to Cass for regionals.

Winchester ends the year 9-3.
