FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Steve Keefer will lead the Bishop Luers football program as head coach for the rest of the 2012 season.
That annoucement came Monday afternoon with Keefer speaking with the press after practice.
Keefer is no stranger to succcess at Bishop Luers. He coached the Knights from 1979 to 1986, winning the program's first-ever 2A state title in 1985.
Keefer has been an assistant coach under Matt Linsday. Linsday was fired on Sunday. He was serving as freshman coach this season. Keefer went 64-27 in his time at Luers. He also went 15-43 from 1988-93 as the head coach at Bellmont.
Keefer is the husband of Bishop Luers principal Mary Keefer.
Kyle Lindsay, Matt Lindsay's son, will also stay on staff as offensive coordinator. Kyle served as interim head coach for Friday's 27-7 win against Wayne after his father to a leave of absence from the school Thursday night.
Bishop Luers travels to Zollner Stadium to face SAC rival Concordia at 7 p.m. Friday night.
