FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Only two local teams are still alive in the high school football playoffs with both Snider and Bishop Luers pulling out close wins last week to earn a regional title.

Snider will host Merrillville Friday in 5A semi-state action. The Panthers beat Fishers last week 36-35 in overtime as Je'Noire Smith's touchdown and subsequent two-point conversion powered Snider to the win. Merrillville is coming off a 50-21 win over Carroll in which the Pirates led 50-0 at one point. Merrillville (11-2) puts up 40.6 points a game on offense while Snider (13-0) gives up only 16.7 points a night.

The Snider-Merrillville game is set for 8 p.m. Friday at Wayne high school.

In 2A semi-state action Bishop Luers (9-4) will travel to Andrean (11-2) for a 7:30 p.m. game on Friday. The Knights need 15 points in the fourth quarter to beat Tipton 22-12 on the road last week. Luers has won 22 straight games in the playoffs, with their last loss coming in 2008. Andrean beat Cass last week 67-66 in five overtimes. Andrean is putting up 43.2 points a night compared to 23.9 by Luers. However, the Knights yield only 12.9 points per game while Andrean gives up 22.9.
