FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Sectional championships will be on the line Friday night all over northeast Indiana with a some teams still alive that many would not have predicted.
In 5A sectional 2 play Carroll will hosts South Bend Adams. The Chargers are in the title game after beating no. 8 Penn 14-13 on the road last week. The Chargers (9-2) will take on an Adams team that is averaging 44 points a game in the playoffs.
In 5A sectional 3 familiar foes Snider and North Side will meet at Chambers Field. It will be a rematch of the game on September 21 that saw Snider win 17-6 in a downpour. Snider comes in ranked no. 4 in 5A with North Side no. 13. The Redskins edged rival South Side last week 26-22 to advance.
The 4A sectional 11 championship game will feature Wawasee at Concord. The Warriors beat NorthWood 31-28 last week. In week one of sectional play Wawasee won at DeKalb 27-14.
In 4A sectional 12 play upstart Norwell will host Bishop Dwenger. The Knights beat 4A no. 13 New Haven on the road last week 22-20 following a sectional opening win over Logansport. The Knights didn't win a game in the regular season but have now won two straight in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Dwenger went an un-Dwenger-like 3-6 in the regular season but played well in a 36-14 win over Columbia City last week in which the Saints led 28-0 early in the second quarter.
In 3A sectional 18 play two top 10 teams will square off in Monroeville as no. 9 Heritage hosts no. 1 Jimtown. The Patriots drubbed Tippecanoe Valley 49-8 last week to improve to 9-2. Jimtown is coming off a 55-7 win over Whitko.
2A sectional 27 will be one of the best matchups in the state as 2A no. 5 Churubusco will travel to 2A no. 4 Bishop Luers. The Knights are coming off a 42-7 win over Eastside while Busco hammered Elwood 35-13. These two met last year at Luers with the Knights winning 34-7.
In 1A sectional 35 play Adams Central hits the road to face North Miami. The Jets (7-4) are coming off a 41-7 win over Southwood. Adams Central has not lost to a 1A team this year, with their losses coming against Leo, Woodlan, Garrett, and Heritage.
