Homestead stays unbeaten with Game of the Week win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Homestead topped NHC rival Carroll 49-27 in the Highlight Zone "Game of the Week" as the Spartans moved to 7-0 on the season.

Matt Skrowronek threw four touchdown passes while Frank Martin rushed for 110 yards and two scores to lead the Spartans.

Elsewhere in the NHC New Haven kept pace with Homestead as the Bulldogs held off Bellmont 27-24 to stay unbeaten at 7-0. East Noble lit up the scoreboard in a 79-7 win over Columbia City while DeKalb earned the program's second win of the season in a 7-6 victory at Norwell.

In the SAC Bishop Luers held on to beat North Side at Luersfield 22-20 as the Knights improve to 5-1 in conference play. Snider went out of conference and used 205 yards rushing and four touchdowns from Je'Norie Smith to beat Elkhart Central 66-51 as the Panthers are now 7-0. At South Side the Archers rushed for 315 yards in a 33-10 win over Wayne while Concordia's David Morrison threw three touchdown passes in a 28-21 win over Northrop. Bishop Dwenger hosts Bishop Chatard at 7 p.m. tomorrow night.

In the NECC Lakeland beat Fairifield 48-29 to improve to 7-0 in conference play. West Noble beat Central Noble 52-27 behind 334 yards rushing from Erik Mawhorter as the Chargers won their first game of the season. Angola got three touchdowns from A.J. Hocker scored three touchdowns as Angola edged Prairie Heights 20-19 while Churubusco lost the program's first game of the season 35-16 at Culver Academy. In league action Eastside hammered Fremont 57-15.

In TRC play Whitko handed North Miami the Warriors' first loss in conference play by winning 13-10 at Huff Field.

Huntington North improved to 4-1 in NCC action as the Vikings took down Muncie Central 31-14.

All ACAC games will be played Saturday at Ball State.
