FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - On a wet and muddy night Snider topped North Side 17-6 in the Highlight Zone "Game of the Week" to take a firm grip on the SAC title chase.
Snider improves to 6-0 on the season and 5-0 in conference. The Panthers play Elkhart next week, but can clinch their first SAC title since 2005 with a win against Bishop Dwenger in week 8.
In other SAC action Luers topped Concordia 27-0 in Steve Keefer's first game as head coach following the firing of coach Matt Lindsay. Dwenger won at Wayne by a score of 27-0, Northrop beat Fenton, Illinois 42-6, and South Side fell to Indianapolis Arsenal Tech 19-12.
In the NHC Homestead and New Haven stayed undefeated as the Spartans hammered DeKalb 44-6 while the Bulldogs edged Columbia City in overtime 28-27. In other NHC action Carroll rallied to beat Bellmont 37-14 while East Noble rolled over Norwell 37-14.
In the ACAC Zach Ferran kicked a game-tying field goal at the end of regulation and then kicked the game-winner in overtime as Leo beat Heritage 13-10 in a key conference matchup. Garrett got 157 yards from Brandon Porter as the Railroaders held off Woodlan 30-26. Bluffton rolled over former ACAC member Southern Wells 20-0 while the Battle of Berne belonged to Adams Central with the Jets topping South Adams 19-7.
In NECC play Churubsco rolled to 6-0 as the Eagles beat West Noble 60-0. Lakeland also improved to 6-0 with a 37-21 win at Eastide.
Huntington North's game in Marion was postponed until Saturday due to weather.
