Spartans top East Noble in battle of unbeatens

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Homestead continued to score at an astounding rate as the Spartans topped NHC rival East Noble in Friday night's Highlight Zone "Game of the Week."

Matt Skowronek threw for 299 yards and five touchdowns - three to Issac Griffith - to lead Homestead. The Spartans are now 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in the NHC while the Knights fall to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Also in the NHC Carroll moved to 3-0 with a 56-7 win at Norwell while New Haven beat DeKalb 47-7 while Columbia City topped Bellmont 24-13.

In the SAC Snider improved to 3-0 overall and in conference as the Panthers used three touchdown passes from Brandon Phelps to beat rival Northrop 48-14 at Spuller Stadium. At Zollner Stadium North Side improved to 3-0 overall with a gutty performance from quarterback C.J. Jackson as the Redskins topped Bishop Dwenger 26-13. Luers improved to 2-1 overall by beating South Side 31-6 while Concordia topped Wayne 40-17.

In ACAC play Leo rolled to 3-0 with a 34-0 win over Adams Central. Bluffton is also 3-0 thanks to a 24-6 win at South Adams. Garrett used a big night from West Noble 56-6 while Heritage topped Woodlan 49-13.

NECC play saw Churubusco move to 3-0 with a 42-0 win over Prairie Heights while Eastside came from behind to beat Angola 14-7.
