Luers tops Snider in SAC season-open battle

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Snider topped Luers 10-7 at Spuller Stadium to headline week one action on the Highlight Zone.

Snider, who hasn't won the SAC title since 2005, now has an early leg up to bring home the Victory Bell. Kurt Tippmann's team played well defensively, bottling up all-American candidate Jaylon Smith to just 48 yards of total offense.

Elsewhere in the SAC, Bishop Dwenger got two touchdowns from running back D'Marcus Moon to beat South Side 20-7. North Side quarterback C.J. Jackson ran for almost 200 yards as the Redskins topped Concordia 54-33.

At Homestead the Spartans topped rival Huntington North 53-12 behind three touchdowns from Grayson Bastin.

Leo continued to show it is one of the area's toughest programs by beating Norwell 56-14.
