FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - For Snider it was familiar territory, as the Panthers clinched their sixth sectional title in a row. For Carroll, it is new territory, as the Chargers won their first sectional title since 2001.
In 5A sectional 3 action fourth-ranked Snider used 130 yards on the ground from Je'Noire Smith as the Panthers topped SAC rivalry North Side 24-14 at Chambers Field. Back on Sept. 21 the Panthers won at North Side 17-6.
Snider advances to host Fishers next week in regional play.
In sectional 2 action Carroll didn't lead until Bayden Lee kicked a field goal with 3.8 seconds left en route to a 44-35 win over South Bend Adams. Carroll scored on the ensuing kickoff when Adams fumbled and the Chargers returned it for a touchdown as time expired.
The Chargers were led by Drue Tranquill's three rushing touchdowns while Andrew Noll also picked off a pass and returned it for a score in the fourth quarter.
Carroll will play at Merrillville in regional action next week.
