FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Ironically enough, it was a Bishop Dwenger team that struggled throughout the regular season that ended Norwell's cinderella run in the sectional championship on Friday night. The Saints survived a dogfight 14-7 to send the Knights packing. With the game tied early in the fourth quarter, Dwenger running back D'Marcus Moon ran seven yards for what would prove to be the winning score. The teams were essentially even in most major statistical categories - but Norwell was undone by three failed opportunities in the red zone.
Ryan Wattercutter led the Saints with eight receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Norwell quarterback Piercen Harnish totaled 308 yards of offense.
In Concord, Wawasee saw its season come to an end, falling 24-10. The loss snaps a five-game winning streak for the Warriors and extended Concords winning streak to five games.
