FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Heritage rode the arm of senior quarterback Conner Sheehan on Friday night as the Patriots won their first sectional title since 2004 by upsetting no. 1 Jimtown 40-29 in Monroeville.
Sheehan threw for 316 yards and five touchdowns as the no. 8 Patriots led 19-15 at half. Sheehan connected with Ben Gibson for three scores while Brenton Lockett and C.J. Whitman each had a receiving touchdown. Jacob Roop added a one-yard touchdown run to round out the scoring for Heritage.
The Patriots will now hit the road for regional play. Heritage will play at Mishawaka Marian next week.
