FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Snider used a gutsy call in overtime to trump Fishers while Bishop Luers need a big fourth quarter to beat Tipton as the Panthers and Knights won the area's only regional titles.
Snider was down by 14 late in the fourth quarter, but two touchdowns sandwiched by a blocked punt helped Snider tie the score at 28 and send it in to overtime. Fishers would score on their overtime possession to make it 35-28. Snider's Je'Noire Smith would score a four-yard touchdown touchdown to make it 35-34. The Panthers would elect to go for two and Smith powered his way to the endzone to earn Snider the program's 12th regional championship.
Snider will host Merrillville next week as the Pirates ended Carroll's season with a 50-21 win. Merrillville led 43-0 at one point. Carroll finishes the season 10-3.
In 4A action Dwenger's amazing playoff run came to an end as the Saints fell to Concord. Dwenger led 21-14 at half but ended up losing 35-21. The Saints finish the season 6-7.
In 3A Heritage's dream season came to an end by falling at Mishawaka Marian 42-20. Conner Sheehan threw for 386 yards in the loss. Heritage ends the year 10-3.
Bishop Luers has now won 22 straight game in the playoffs as the Knights topped Tipton 22-12 on the road. The Knights scored 15 points in the fourth quarter on two of Jaylon Smith's three touchdowns. The Knights now travel to Andrean for semi-state.
