MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WANE) - The Patriots came up short in their quest to win the program's first regional title as Heritage lost at Mishawaka Marian 42-20.
Mishawaka Marian scored the first 28 points of the game with Heritage getting on the board in the second quarter thanks to a Jacob Roop three-yard touchdown run. Mishawaka was up 35-7 at half.
Brenton Lockett would snag a pass for a 58-yard score from Conner Sheehan in the third quarter to cut the lead to 35-14.
Zach Toles would find the endzone on an 11-yard pass in the fourth quarter to shave the lead to 35-20. Mishawaka Marian would tack on a late score to set the final at 42-20.
Sheehan wound up 32-of-58 for 386 yards. He threw two touchdown and two interceptions and also tallied 33 rushing yards on 15 attempts. Wil Knapke caught 14 passes for 86 yards. Toles had seven receptions for 95 yards and a score. Lockett had four grabs for 99 yards and a touchdown & added 61 yards rushing on 12 carries.
Heritage ends the season with a 10-3 record. The Patriots won a share of their first conference title since 2006 and their first sectional since 2004.
