FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Homestead won the NHC title outright, Heritage captured a share of the ACAC championship, and Churubusco is the king of the NECC as conference titles were decided in the final week of the regular season.
Homestead topped New Haven 24-13 to finish the regular season 9-0 to win the NHC title for the sixth year in a row. In other NHC play Carroll put up 63 points in a win over DeKalb, Columbia City topped Norwell 26-6, while East Noble continued to roll in a 51-10 win at Bellmont.
In the SAC Snider topped Wayne to finish 9-0 in the regular season. Meanwhile, the Battle of the Bishops went to Luers as the Knights downed Dwenger 58-21. North Side beat Northrop 48-27, Concordia lost to Brebeuf 46-22, while South Side won big on the road at Gary Wallace 75-6.
In ACAC action Heritage toppled Garrett 56-20 in Monroeville in the Highlight Zone "Game of the Week." The win means Garrett and Heritage tie for the ACAC title at 5-1 in conference play. If Leo beats Bluffton on Saturday the Lions would also finish 5-1 in conference and share the title with the Railroaders and Patriots. In other ACAC action from Friday Woodlan got four touchdowns from TJ Sewell as the Warriors beat Adams Central 48-34 while South Adams beat former ACAC rival Southern Wells 17-14.
In NECC play Churbusco's Jason Nicodemus ran for 217 yards and five touchdowns as the Eagles beat Lakeland 38-16 to win the conference title outright. Churubusco has now won at least a share of the NECC title for four straight years.
At Kreigbaum Field Huntington North continued their strong season as the Vikings beat New Castle 28-14 to finish 5-2 in NCC play.
