AMES, Iowa - IPFW took host Iowa State to the full five games but couldn't pull off the upset in the first round of the NCAA tournament as the Mastodons lost to the Cyclones 3-2.
ISU took game one easily, 25-11. IPFW fought back to win games two and three by scores of 23-25 and 22-25. Iowa State took game four 25-13 to force a decisive fifth game. ISU won that game 15-7 to earn the win for the match.
IPFW's Emily Spencer led the Dons with 13 kills.
IPFW ends the season with a 26-6 overall record.
