WBB: Saint Francis Claims League Title

MARION, Ind. (WANE) - In a battle of NAIA powerhouses it was no. 5 St. Francis upsetting no. 1 Indiana Wesleyan 54-48 Monday night at Luckey Arena as the Cougars earned the Crossroads League women's basketball tournament title.

USF improves to 30-3 on the year while IWU drops to 30-3. Both will be expected to make deep runs in the NAIA  division two tournament that tips off next Wednesday in Sioux Falls, Iowa.

USF was led by Skylarr Shurn's 21 points while Kayla Drake added 12. Southern Wells high school grad Meghan Slusher scored nine points and added seven rebounds while Leo product Kalah Baer had four points and 10 boards.

IWU was paced by Teneil Krebs and Claire Ray with 13 points apiece. Taylor Goshert had eight points and 11 rebounds for IWU.

Saint Francis led 25-19 at half.
