Jahwan Edwards, a sophomore running back on the Ball State football team, has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week.
Edwards earned the honor for his performance in Ball State's 37-26 season-opening victory over Eastern Michigan.
Edwards rushed for a career high 200 yards and tied his career high with three rushing touchdowns, including a career long 75-yard touchdown run against the Eagles.
It marked the third multiple touchdown game of his career, and gave him 14 career TDs. Edwards needs two rushing touchdowns to tie for 10th on Ball State's career chart. He needs 74 rushing yards to reach the 1,000-yard mark for his career.
Edwards won the MAC's weekly award for the first time in his career.
The Cardinals continue the 2012 season with a game at Clemson Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The game can be seen on the Atlantic Coast Conference Television Network or on ESPN3.
