HU's Kennedy MCC Male Athlete Of Year

H UNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University 6’6 senior forward Caleb Kenney has left an indelible mark on the Mid-Central Conference (MCC) by being named the first ever MCC Male Athlete of the Year as announced by officials at the conference office Friday. The award, which rewards both athletic and academic excellence among more than 1,600 male student-athletes in the MCC, was voted upon and awarded by the league's athletic directors.Kennedy graduated with a business management degree and averaged 20.29 points and 8.55 rebounds per outing in his final campaign to wrap up his career in green and white with 1,494 points which places him 21 ^st on HU’s all-time scoring list.

The Charlottesville, Indiana (Eastern Hancock HS) native was the only member of the conference to receive NAIA First Team All-America honors and is only the fifth Forester to have earned this high honor in the past decade. He finished seventh in NAIA Division II in defensive rebounds per game (6.77), 13 ^th in scoring and 18 ^th in total rebound per game.  

He was also named the MCC Player of the Year this past season and topped his conference peers for most points in a game (43 against Saint Xavier on 12/10/11), double doubles (9) and defensive rebounds while finishing second in scoring, field goal percentage (.542) and total rebounds per game.

The inaugural MCC Female Athlete of the Year was awarded to Taylor’s Kelsey Pritchard, a senior on the Trojan volleyball team.

Collins, MCC Commissioner, was pleased to announce Pritchard and Kennedy stating, “This is a great day for the Mid-Central College Conference, Taylor University and Huntington University – awarding the first annual Male and Female Student Athlete of the year to Caleb Kennedy and Kelsey Pritchard is truly special. 

“Each of these Student Athletes has represented themselves well in the classroom as well as on the court.  There were many great candidates, but Caleb and Kelsey excelled at outstanding levels.”
