FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- IPFW is now 16-37 overall after losing to Oral Roberts by the final score of 12-1 on Sunday afternoon. The game ended after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
Oral Roberts scored at least one run in six of the seven innings. They posted three in the first and added five in the fourth to open up the large lead. The Mastodons got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Freshman Lucas Salerno walked to lead off the fifth. He was able to move into scoring position after a single from Clay Hathaway. Salerno would go on to score the only run of the game for IPFW after an RBI single back up the middle of the field from Malcolm White.
IPFW recorded six hits on the day. Joining White and Hathaway in the hits column was Carter DeBoe, Kristian Gayday, Steve Danielak and Caleb Fenimore.
Travis Reboulet got the start for IPFW. He threw 5.1 innings against the Golden Eagles giving up 11 earned runs off 13 hits. Nate White entered the game to throw the final 1.2 innings. White limited ORU to just one hit while striking out two.
The 'Dons will travel to Southern Illinois next weekend with a three-game series against the Salukis. IPFW is now done with Summit League play. Their league record of 8-16 will not qualify them for the Summit League Tournament making the three-game road series the final series of the season.
