Two Trine Standouts Honored By MIAA

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine University’s defensive end Louis Danesi and return specialist/wide receiver JaVontae Hence its Players of the Week in football for games played through September 22.

Danesi, a junior from Santa Fe, Texas (Santa Fe), recorded 10 tackles, including three for 16 yards in losses and two quarterback sacks, as the Thunder posted a 28-13 victory over Taylor, Ind. Six of Danesi’s tackles were solo stops. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Hence, a senior from Elkhart, Ind. (Concord), had 216 all-purpose yards of offense and two touchdowns in Trine’s 28-13 win over Taylor. Hence caught a 50-yard touchdown pass and returned a punt 79 yards for a score within a span of less than two minutes in the third quarter to ignite the Thunder’s comeback from a 10-0 halftime deficit. Hence, who is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and fourth time in his career, finished with 107 return yards and caught four passes for 109 yards.
