Trine wanted to make sure Kentucky Christian got the message early that they were not going to spoil the Thunder's regular season finale.
Trine put up 14 unanswered points in the first quarter thanks to a Lucas Rosengarten TD run and an Eric Watt to Mario Brown 19-yard touchdown pass to quickly give the Thunder a 14-0 lead.
Trine added to their lead in the second quarter when Watt connected with Paul Curtis on a 59-yard strike to increase their lead to 21-0. Kentucky Christian reached the end zone just before the half to make it a 21-7 game heading into the locker rooms.
Trine put the game away in the third quarter. The defense set the tone with a safety followed by a Ryan Hargraves five-yard touchdown run to put the Thunder on top 36-7 en route to the 36-21 victory.
Trine now awaits who their first round opponent will be and where it will be played when the tournament pairings are announced Sunday afternoon. Trine wrapped up the regular season 9-1 overall and 6-0 in MIAA play.
